Liv Tyler

This week's contest subject is an actress, Liv Tyler. She's probably best known for playing Arwen in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. that's the reference i chose to focus on. again i'm fairly pleased with this one for the limited time i've put into it(maybe 3 hrs including initial sketch). i'm hoping i'll get some positive feedback on this one.
i had to post it today b/c we're going out of town for the weekend. i might have time to make adjustments when we get back, but if not, it's already turned in.

hulk hogan

last week's contest subject was hulk hogan, the wrestler.
everyone seemed to be doing images of him in his prime, hulk-a-mania. i was trying to stand out and decided to do a before hulk-a-mania pic. i got very little response, which disappointed me greatly b/c i'm pretty happy with it.

bruce campbell final

This was what i turned in for a final. it didn't get much response from my peers. one thing that continues to frustrate me is backgrounds. i can never decide what i'm going for. this one is probably starting to move towards an illustration... but that's only b/c i felt i had to add something b/c the drawing itself wasn't strong on its own.

bruce campbell work in progress

for a caricature contest on facebook.
bruce campbell was labeled somewhere as the king of the 'b' movies for his work in 'army of darkness' and 'evil dead'. i haven't seen either of these movies so i was going off the king concept. not really sure where i'm going from here.

sketch

of Ben Affleck from the movie 'The Town'.

a couple contest pics

A couple more drawings from the facebook caricature contest. This first one is Johnny Knoxville. I blurred out the text for the more sensitive among us.

The second is Helena Bonham Carter, an actress who appears in a lot of stuff with Johnny Depp, and directed by her husband Tim Burton. One of her notable recent roles was the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland. The reference I used for this one is from Sweeney Todd, in one of the dream/fantasy sequences. The likeness to the reference isn't too bad, but it's probably not the greatest reference for capturing her true likeness.
